pour sujet la représentation du quotidien\, du XVIIe siècle à nos jours\, autant sous une forme contemplative qu’expérimentale. \nElle questionne le rôle de l’artiste comme témoin d’un monde de son époque\, observateur privilégié de ce qui l’entoure et de ses semblables. Natures mortes\, objets usuels\, mais aussi scènes de vie ordinaires composent ce parcours qui incite à repenser notre rapport au monde et aux objets environnants. \nSans tenir compte de classements traditionnels\, les œuvres sont présentées par liens analogiques\, rencontres de gestes et de couleurs\, rapprochements de formes ou de lumières. Le dialogue entre les deux collections offre une approche originale des œuvres et en fait surgir des signes et des sens nouveaux. Les juxtapositions les plus inattendues pourront ainsi être lues et interprétées librement par les visiteurs. \nL’exposition Témoins de l’ordinaire regroupe une trentaine d’œuvres et réalisées par dix-sept artistes. qualifiant lui-même d’artiste-peintre en bâtiment\, Christophe Cuzin peint de grands aplats monochromes qui interrogent les rapports entre la peinture\, la couleur et l’architecture et entre l’abstraction et la figuration. Artiste sans atelier\, il travaille toujours In situ : l’œuvre naît de l’architecture du lieu puis est vouée à disparaître à la fin de l’exposition. Seul restera alors le croquis\, à la fois prémisse de l’idée et trace du travail. \nPour la réalisation de ses œuvres\, l’artiste suit un protocole minimaliste\, sans place pour la subjectivité ni prouesse technique. Selon lui\, la véritable question\, ce n’est pas comment cela a été fait mais plutôt pourquoi on le fait. Cette recherche de la « non-prouesse » ouvre son travail à la délégation et à la collaboration. D’abord\, Christophe Cuzin fait un repérage du lieu\, puis il dessine cet espace à partir d’une photographie et il définit le protocole à suivre ; puis pour finir\, il le réalise. \nLes lieux choisis ne sont généralement pas spectaculaires et l’artiste s’attache à mettre en lumière des éléments architecturaux que l’on ne regarde pas toujours : souligner les arêtes des murs\, reproduire les façades et les déplacer ou encore indiquer les mesures de chaque murs. Il le dit lui-même : il n’invente rien mais il invite le spectateur à percevoir autrement le lieu. De ces prises de vue est né un voyage à distance\, finalement devenu nécessaire du fait du confinement. L’artiste a ainsi découvert ces lieux qu’il ne connaissait pas et les a ensuite réinvesti en les dessinant avec le logiciel Photoshop. \nCe choix d’un logiciel de retouche photo et non de dessin n’est pas anodin car l’artiste le considère comme un outil archaïque\, dans la lignée directe des machines Jacquard et des premiers ordinateurs\, dont les pixels noirs sur fond blanc formeraient les 1 et les 0 de son code. \nLa minutie du dessin\, pixel par pixel\, permet de s’arrêter sur chaque détail de la ville\, d’essayer de deviner ce qu’il y a précisément sur ces photos de lieux inconnus pour l’artiste et d’en modifier peut-être certains éléments. \nLes dessins ont ensuite été agrandis et imprimés sur des rideaux translucides et traversables.
