s’organise autour de la projection au plafond d’une vidéo montrant la formation d’un précipité chimique.\nLa vitesse du mouvement de la réaction est ralentie\, rappelant des formations nuageuses. \nLe caractère contemplatif des images stimule l’imagination du spectateur\, l’amène à reconnaitre des formes connues\, un visage\, un cheval\, des créatures fantastiques\, comme lorsqu’on regarde les nuages (principe de la paréidolie).\nDans l’espace\, les déclinaisons picturales et sculpturales sont présentées comme la traduction en phase soluble et solide du mouvement d’un qui ont exposé à l’Artothèque depuis sa création en 1988\, présentant ainsi un large panorama de la création actuelle. \nNous voulons ainsi rendre un hommage à tous les artistes avec lesquels nous carnets\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css= » » text_direction= »default »]Pour une première fois en France\, K. Yoland\, artiste anglo-canadienne\, expose à la galerie de l’école des beaux-arts de Nantes.\nAppareil photo à la main et caméra à l’épaule comme d’autres ont un carnet de croquis ou de voyage\, K. arpente depuis quelques années\, le territoire texan\, pour consigner ce qui marque une société\, ses identités\, ses rituels guerriers\, ses paysages. K. est aventurière\, non par goût du risque\, mais par amour de l’humanité et par crainte des bouleversements qu’elle provoque. Cette quête de l’autre et de son environnement la pousse à dépasser sa condition de citadine londonienne et l’entraîne sur des territoires en guerre\, là où les frontières sont floues ; là où une rivière que l’on descend en canoë sépare­ deux pays\, là où les plages privées sont inaccessibles\, là où un camp d’entraînement clone un pays en guerre et où l’information est une propagande télévisée. Les cartes routières l’aident à positionner ses points d’intérêt pour dessiner ses déplacements le long de paysages désertiques. Les scenarii s’écrivent pour que la caméra filme\, enregistre et nous restitue son cheminement. \nK. a décidé de préserver un tumbleweed (littéralement herbe qui roule) enfermé dans une caisse transparente en polycarbonate à l’épreuve des balles. Sauver ce buisson sauvage\, survivant de la destruction humaine\, figure originel du paysage\, indigène\, sans couleur\, non pollué par l’ambition\, le pouvoir. Le transporter comme un trophée. S’ensuit un échange épistolaire entre K. et Tumbleweed\, une fable qui l’entraîne en canoë sur le Rio Grande et ses environs\, posant Tumbleweed comme marqueur du paysage. \nPuis viennent les collages\, nombreux tel un jeu de montage. Ses images de la Floride issues de performances (Walking until submerged\, 2019)\, ou celles de Fort Irwin (2019)\, camp d’entraînement militaire de Californie\, sont des œuvres en cours\, inachevées ou en devenir. \nDes œuvres caméléons qui s’adaptent aux espaces\, que l’on coupe et repositionne sans pour autant en modifier le sens.\nC’est en pratiquant la danse que K. a pris conscience de l’espace et du déplacement. Bouger son corps comme on respire\, se maîtriser\, relâcher et pratiquer. Naturellement\, K. importa ses mouvements dans ses films\, ses photographies\, imagina des scénari souvent issus de l’actualité\, performa dans les lieux d’expositions\, seule\, en groupe ou dirigeant la mise en scène (Push the Frame\, 2004). \nK. a besoin de capturer les temps de performance pour les rejouer et ainsi se donner le temps de la réflexion pour les produire autrement. Ses images sont précises\, parfois d’une grande douceur\, toujours directes mais capables aussi d’une grande violence rétinienne\, difficile à soutenir si l’on souffre d’épilepsie ou de fragilité cardiaque (Pick and Mix\,2010). Pas d’effet de style emprunté\, simplement additionner à saturation excessive les enregistrements télévisuels dont nous abreuve les médias. Pas de morale ni de mots d’ordre de sa part\, mais des questions : comment ne pas voir\, comprendre\, réagir ? Insoutenable. \nNombre de ses œuvres présentées ici ont déjà été montrées en Angleterre\, en Europe ou aux États-Unis sous une forme différente\, plus complète ou plus déployée. Ce qui importait dans la construction de cette exposition\, était bien de coller et de mixer une sélection de ses images créées depuis plusieurs années pour en faire ressortir ce qui les lie\, quitte à écarter des éléments pour mieux en valoriser certains. \nL’ensemble des photographies a été produit dans les ateliers de l’école et l’un des films de Operation Tumbleweed (2018) sous-titré spécialement en français.
